2NE1 (pronounced "twenty-one") is a South Korean girl group created by YG Entertainment. First appearing in a Cyon commercial campaign with Big Bang for LG Telecom, their debut single "Fire" was released on May 6, 2009. 2NE1 is supposed to stand for “New Evolution of the 21st Century”. “NE” meaning “New Evolution” and “21” standing for the “21st Century”. From their official debut song, Fire, they have since then won numerous awards and #1s on the charts. They gained two mutizens on Inkigayo for their song, Fire, and a triple crown for 'I Don't Care.
